The Crabs

The Crabs
by Theodora Goss

Under the water
the crabs, in their camouflage,
crawl sideways suddenly,
silently, startlingly,
over the ocean floor,
segmented, carapaced,
each individually
dancing its mute ballet,
like a clawed metaphor.
